60-Second Video Contest Returns

Mason Engineering students take note: Here’s an opportunity for you to showcase your innovative ideas, test your video skills, and win cash.

Dean Ken Ball is hosting a video contest this winter. First prize is $500, second is $250. Other prizes will go to some of the best submissions.

Engineering undergraduates, master’s students, and PhD candidates¬ can participate alone or in teams. Student teams must include at least one person from Mason Engineering, but students from other schools can participate as well.

Here are the rules:
Submit a video (at most 60 seconds) that either:

Tells a compelling story about an engineering project you did or are doing at Mason; or
Captures viewers’ imagination by illustrating how “The Future of Engineering Is Here.”

Here’s what you can do now:

  • Assemble your team
  • Start brainstorming
  • Think of different ideas and try them out, be creative and show everyone how engineers innovate

The deadline for the competition will be in early February. We will announce the winners and award prizes during Engineers Week.

How to enter:

  • Decide which track you will enter
  • Create your video
  • Upload your video on YouTube
  • Submit your video by email to mbushong@gmu.edu with the subject line: 60-second video track 1 or 60-second video track 2.

Include the names and program majors of the team members and the YouTube url in the body of the email.

Entries must be received by noon on February 1, 2019.

Winners will be announced during Engineer’s Week 2019.

Teams of graduate and undergraduate students can enter the competition and win cash prizes.
